Museum Opens...

St. Augustine's opened a museum to help honor the 100 year history of the school.  Please stop by to see what we have put together.  It is located in a building just to the west of the school.  Pictured above is our 1900's classroom scene, complete with an image of St. Katharine Drexel at the head of the room.

*Awards Received...

*On May 15, 2009 we received a Chief Standing Bear Organizational Award from the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs.  The plaque presented to Fr. Dave and Don Blackbird, Jr. reads:

"The Chief Standing Bear Committee expresses it's appreciation and honor to St. Augustine Indian Mission School for recognizing your commitment to excellence in the education of Native students including the teaching of traditional Native American culture and language, on this fifteenth day of May in the year of Two Thousand and Nine."

*St. Augustine Indian Mission received notice that it's 2009 Centennial Calendar was given the Gold Award at a national competition.  It was selected as the number one non-profit calendar in the country.  The calendar features the photography of Don Doll, SJ, who captures the beauty of our children in their Native regalia.  The layout design artist is Pat Osborne from Mutual of Omaha.  They have teamed up to win several awards on the regional level with our calendar in the past, but this is the first time we received the top honors in the nation!
